A nexus of parks and nature activities, all within your reach.

With its unique location next to the San Gabriel River Corridor, Water Oak will be included in the City of Georgetown’s Open Space and Trails plan. This will connect the community via trail systems to many other parks and natural preserves, including the City of Georgetown’s Garey Park, Williamson County Regional Park and Shadow Canyon Preserve.

In Autumn 2004, Jack and Cammy Garey bequeathed their 525-acre ranch to the City of Georgetown as a life estate gift with the agreement that it will be developed as a public city park. The ranch, located one mile west of Water Oak, features scenic hill country terrain along the San Gabriel River. In addition to their ranch, the Gareys’ gift includes their estate home and a $5 million cash donation, which must be matched by the City, for development of the park. With an amphitheater, equestrian center, playscape, sports fields and a dog park, Garey Park is destined to be a stunning gem in the Georgetown Parks and Recreation System.
